James M. Welch 
James M. was born on February 12th, 1842 in McDonough Co, IL.1 James M.'s father was George Washington Welch and his mother was Mary D. Caldwell. His paternal grandparents were Osias Welch and Elizabeth Rowland; his maternal grandparents were Samuel Caldwell and Nancy Caldwell. He had eight brothers and five sisters, named Elijah A., Elisha C., David L., George S., Charles T., John H., William Joseph, Albert B., Amanda M., Nancy J., Mary Adaline, Sarah Isabell and Emma T.. He was the fifth oldest of the fourteen children. He died at the age of 20 on April 6th, 1862 in died in battle of Pittsburg or Shilo.1 -
