Marion Franklin was born on May 14th, 1880 in Compton, Los Angeles Co., California.1   Marion Franklin's father was John Franklin Smith and his mother was Martha Ellen Sackett.  His paternal grandparents were James Smith and Jane Marcum; his maternal grandparents were Alfred Sackett and Permelia Varvell. He had a brother and four sisters, named John Harold, Mary Permelia, Nellie Frances, Hattie Jeanette and Lillie.  He was the second oldest of the six children. He had three half-brothers and two half-sisters, named Marcus Allen, Phillip Lafayette, William Cephus, Emma F. and Laura Jane.  He died at the age of 76 on June 30th, 1956 in San Fernando, Los Angeles Co., California.1
