Mary Ellen Mew 
Mary Ellen was born on February 14th, 1855 in Beaufort Dist., SC.1 Mary Ellen's father was John Pringle Mew and her mother was Emily Ann Smart. Her paternal grandparents were Macamee Mew and Ann Rutledge Smith. She had four brothers and five sisters, named John Rufus, Henry, James Alexander, Edward C., Martha Elizabeth, Florence Ann, Julia Leocardia, Laura Josephine and Harriet Isabel. She was the third youngest of the ten children. She died at the age of 73 on February 23rd, 1928.1 General Notes
