Julia Leocardia was born on July 24th, 1851 in Beaufort Dist., SC.1 Julia Leocardia's father was John Pringle Mew and her mother was Emily Ann Smart. Her paternal grandparents were Macamee Mew and Ann Rutledge Smith. She had four brothers and five sisters, named John Rufus, Henry, James Alexander, Edward C., Martha Elizabeth, Florence Ann, Laura Josephine, Mary Ellen and Harriet Isabel. She was the fifth youngest of the ten children.1 -
