James Alexander Mew 
James Alexander was born in 1849 in Beaufort Dist., SC.1 James Alexander's father was John Pringle Mew and his mother was Emily Ann Smart. His paternal grandparents were Macamee Mew and Ann Rutledge Smith. He had three brothers and six sisters, named John Rufus, Henry, Edward C., Martha Elizabeth, Florence Ann, Julia Leocardia, Laura Josephine, Mary Ellen and Harriet Isabel. He was the fifth oldest of the ten children. He died at the age of 78 in 1927.1 -
