Ashby Marcellus Malphrus 
Ashby Marcellus was born on February 11th, 1876 in Ridgeland, Jasper Co., SC.1 Ashby Marcellus' father was Seaborn Nathaniel Malphrus and his mother was Sarah Jane Mulligan. His paternal grandparents were William Edward Malphrus and Kitsiah Woods; his maternal grandparents were Francis Mulligan and Eliza Lavonia Dean. He had eight brothers and two sisters, named Henry Brooker, William Francis, George Washington, Joseph, Andrew O., Cary Woodville, Cornelius Edward, Albert Preacher, Sarah Ida and Anna Ada. He was the sixth oldest of the eleven children. He died at the age of 55 on March 18th, 1931.1 -
