Andrew O. was born on September 14th, 1881 in Ridgeland, Jasper Co., SC.1 Andrew O.'s father was Seaborn Nathaniel Malphrus and his mother was Sarah Jane Mulligan. His paternal grandparents were William Edward Malphrus and Kitsiah Woods; his maternal grandparents were Francis Mulligan and Eliza Lavonia Dean. He had eight brothers and two sisters, named Henry Brooker, William Francis, George Washington, Joseph, Ashby Marcellus, Cary Woodville, Cornelius Edward, Albert Preacher, Sarah Ida and Anna Ada. He was the fifth youngest of the eleven children. He died at the age of 26 on August 9th, 1908.1 General Notes
