Thomas was born on July 16th, 1882 in Florence, SC.1 Thomas' father was James Evans and his mother was Marie Antoinette Powell. His paternal grandparents were Thomas Evans and Jane Beverly Daniel; his maternal grandparents were William Alexander Powell and Lucy Peachy Lee. He had three brothers and five sisters, named Powell, William Alexander, James Daniel, Jane Beverly, Maria Lee, Maria Antionette, Lucy Peachy and Llewellyn Stewart.
