John Orr 
John was born on July 25th, 1726 in Schotts, Lankashire.1 John's father was Alexander Orr and his mother was Agnes Dalrymple. His paternal grandparents were Alexander Orr and Lady Barbara Craufurd; his maternal grandfather was John Dalyrymple. He was an only child. He died at the age of 54 in 1780 in Alexandria, Fairfax, VA, USA.1 General Notes

Orr, John, born 25 Jul, 1726, son of Rev Alexander Orr of Waterside, Dumphries, Scotland, and Agnes (Dalrymple): married 1761, Susan(Monroe) Grayson, dau of Benjamin and Susannah(Monroe) Grayson
Hon. John Orr, a member of the Virginia Assembly, and a signer of Richard Henry Lee's resolution against the Stamp Act in 1766
John Orr had come to Virginia in 1750. He was the son of Rev Alexander Orr, of " Hazelside", Renfrewshire, Scotland, and his wife, Lady Agnes, daughter of Hon John Dalyrymple, Laird of Waterside, and grandson of Rev Alexander Orr, of Burrowfield, Renfrewshire, and ardent covenanter, who suffered martyrdom for his relifious faith, and his wife Lady Barbara Craufurd, of Auchinaines. The Orrs were an ancient family of Renfrewshire, dating back to1100 A. D., and the Craufurd family was indeed one of the most ancient and highly connected families of the realm, being decended within four generations from King Janes IV, of Scotland, through at least a dozen seperate lines, notably those of Stewart, Eglington, Seton, Lamont, and others

John Orr was drowned while attempting to cross Club Run near his home in Loudoun Co., VA
