William L. Mikels 
William L. was born in 1828 in Morgan Co., IL. William L.'s father was Hugh Mikels and his mother was Charity Ann Scholl. His paternal grandparents were John Michael and Sarah Whitaker; his maternal grandparents were Peter Morgan Scholl and Mary Bryan Boone. He had eight brothers and three sisters, named Edward, John Noah, George M., Samuel, David J., Joseph P., Charles W., James, Polly, Ellen J. and Emily.
