James Purvis Mikels 
James Purvis was born on November 21st, 1834 in Wilkes Co., NC. James Purvis' father was John Mikels and his mother was Louisa Bethany Minton. His paternal grandparents were David Hugh Michael and Lucinda Doty. He had two brothers and two sisters, named William S., Abraham Lee, Rebecca Adeline and Mary Jane.
