Elizabeth was born on January 12th, 1772 in New Kent, VA. Elizabeth's father was John Hutchins and her mother was Alice Stanley. Her paternal grandparents were Strangeman+ Hutchins and Elizabeth+ Cox; her maternal grandparents were John Stanley and Alice Ballard. She had five brothers and four sisters, named Jonathan, Thomas J., Strangeman, William, Patrick, Nancy, Agatha, Susannah and Mary. She was the fifth youngest of the ten children.
