Isobel was born on March 25th, 1157 in Thurrock, Essex, England.  Isobel's father was Lord Robert de Condet of Thorngate and her mother was Adeliza de Meschines of Chester.  Her paternal grandparents were Lord Osbert de Condet of Wickhambreux and Adelaide de Chesney de Mons; her maternal grandparents were Earl Ranulph ("de Briquessart") de Meschines III of Chester and Countess Lucy Taillebois of Chester. She had a brother named Roger.  She is the younger of the two children. She had two half-brothers and two half-sisters, named Robert FitzRichard, Roger, Rohese and Alice de Tonbridge.

‌Isobel and Hugh were married in a religious ceremony about 1180 in Thurrock, Essex, England.  They had two daughters named Beatrice or Cecily and Isolda.
