Rohese was born in 1120 in Clare, Suffolk, England.  Rohese's father was Lord Richard FitzGilbert de Clare and her mother was Adeliza de Meschines of Chester.  Her paternal grandparents were Earl Gilbert FitzRichard de Clare I of Hertford and Alice de Claremont; her maternal grandparents were Earl Ranulph ("de Briquessart") de Meschines III of Chester and Countess Lucy Taillebois of Chester. She had two brothers and a sister, named Robert FitzRichard, Roger and Alice de Tonbridge.  She was the second youngest of the four children. She had a half-brother and a half-sister, named Roger and Isobel.  She died after 1175.

‌Rohese and Gilbert were married in a religious ceremony about 1137.  They had a daughter named Alice.
