William was born after 1138 in Arundel, Sussex, England.  William's father was Earl William ("Strong Hand") d'Aubigny III of Arundel and his mother was Queen Adeliza of Louvain.  His paternal grandparents were William Pincerna d'Aubigny and Maud Bigod; his maternal grandparents were Duke Godfrey Barbutus ("the Bearded") de Lorraine I of Brabant and Ida de Namur. He had two brothers and three sisters, named Princerna, William, Cecily, Matilda and Alice. He had a half-sister named Maud.  He died on December 24th, 1193 in Buckenham, Wayland, Norfolk, England.  He was buried in Wymondham Priory, Norfolk, England.


William's family with Matilda de St. Hilary du Harcourt

‌William and Matilda de St. Hilary were married in a religious ceremony about 1173.  They had a son and a daughter, named William and d'Aubigny.
