Gilbert was born on May 10th, 1291. Gilbert's father was Gilbert "the Red Earl" de Clare Earl of Gloucester & Hertford and his mother was Joan Plantagenet of Acre. His paternal grandparents were Richard De Clare Earl of Gloucester and Maud Lacy Countess of Gloucester; his maternal grandparents were "Longshanks" King of England Edward I and Princess Of Castile and Leon Eleanor. He had three sisters named Eleanor, Margaret and Elizabeth. He had two half-brothers and three half-sisters, named Thomas, Edward, Isabel, Mary and Joan. He died due to Killed in battle at the age of 23 on June 24th, 1314 in battle at Bannockburn, Strilingshire, Scotland.General Notes
