Eleanor was born in October 1292 in Caerphilly Castle, Caerphilly, Glamorganshire, Wales.  Eleanor's father was Gilbert "the Red Earl" de Clare Earl of Gloucester & Hertford and her mother was Joan Plantagenet of Acre.  Her paternal grandparents were Richard De Clare Earl of Gloucester and Maud Lacy Countess of Gloucester; her maternal grandparents were "Longshanks" King of England Edward I and Princess Of Castile and Leon Eleanor. She had a brother and two sisters, named Gilbert, Margaret and Elizabeth. She had two half-brothers and three half-sisters, named Thomas, Edward, Isabel, Mary and Joan.  She died at the age of 44 on June 30th, 1337 in Tewkesbury, Gloucestershire, England.
