William was born about 1207 in Salisbury,Wiltshire,England.1 William's father was William Longespee , Earl of Salisbury and his mother was Ela Deveraux (Countess of Salisbury). His paternal grandparents were "Curt Mantel" King of England Henry II and Annabel Balliol; his maternal grandparents were W (Earl of Salisbury) D'Evereux and Eleanor (Alianore) De Vitre. He had two brothers and two sisters, named Stephen, s Earl of Ulster, Ida (Idonea) "Camvile" and Ela. He was the oldest of the five children. He had two half-brothers and six half-sisters, named Richard, Nicholas, Ela, Isabel, Petronilla, Isa, Lora and Ela "The Younger". He died on February 7th, 1250 in Al-Mansura,on the Nile,Egypt.
