Eddie Steel Gowen 
Eddie Steel was born on August 22nd, 1897 in Wharton Co., Texas.1 Eddie Steel's father was John Steel Gowen and his mother was Maria Jane Johnston. His maternal grandparents were William E. Johnston and Elizabeth Miles Allen. He had two brothers and five sisters, named John Linder, Jesse Eugene, May Bell, Marie L., Mattie, Irene Redden and Florence Adella. He was the fourth youngest of the eight children. He died at the age of 60 in 1957 in Houston, Harris Co., Texas.1 General Notes
