John Dingess 
John was born in 1781 in Montgomery co. VA.1 John's father was JOHANNES Peter Dingess and his mother was MARY Smith. His paternal grandparents are MICHAEL DINGESS and GERTRUDE; his maternal grandparents are Thomas Smith and Barbara Dunbar Anderson. He had three brothers and seven sisters, named William, Charles Anderson, Peter, Elizabeth, Susannah, MARY, Ann, Sarah, Margaret and Harriett. He was the fifth youngest of the eleven children. He died about 1853 in Logan Co, Virginia.2 
John and Chloe were married in a religious ceremony.2 They had seven sons and three daughters, named David, Harvey S., John, Peter C., Henderson, William, Julius, Peggy, Sallie and Nancy.
