Her paternal grandparents were Sir John COLQUHOUN XIII and Agnes BOYD; her maternal grandparents are George BUCHANAN and Margaret (Mary) GRAHAM. She had eight brothers and five sisters, named John, Humphry M.P., Alexander XVII (Sir), Adam, Walter, George, Patrick, George, Nancy, Katherine, Helen, Mary and Katharine.
