Mary was born in 1620 in Luss, Dunbarton, Scotland, Scotland. Mary's father was Alexander (Alasdair) COLQUHOUN [LORD] and her mother was Margaret Helen BUCHANAN. Her paternal grandparents were Sir John COLQUHOUN XIII and Agnes BOYD; her maternal grandparents are George BUCHANAN and Margaret (Mary) GRAHAM. She had eight brothers and five sisters, named John, Humphry M.P., Alexander XVII (Sir), Adam, Walter, George, Patrick, George, Jean, Nancy, Katherine, Helen and Katharine.
