‌Burell and Lucy Matilda were married in a religious ceremony in 1824 in Noxubee County, Mississippi.  They had five sons and three daughters, named James D., Littleberry John, Henry Grey, William Burt, David A., Mary Jane, Mary Katherine and Evalina.
