Ethalinda was born about 1810 in Martin Co., N.C. Ethalinda's father was Reubin Manning and her mother was Sarah (Sallie) Staton. Her paternal grandparents were Marcom Manning and Keziah Ballentine; her maternal grandparents were Jesse Staton and Rebecca Everett. She had three brothers and three sisters, named Reubin Staton, Thomas, John, Sarah, Elizabeth and Kezia.-
