John R. Barnhill 
John R. was born on March 3rd, 1838 in Edgecombe Co. NC. John R.'s father was Lemuel E Barnhill and his mother was Caroline Arcenie Cooper. He had two brothers and two sisters, named Jesse E., Martin Van Buren, Ann L. and Caroline Virginia. He was the second oldest of the five children. He died at the age of 70 on December 10th, 1908. He was buried in Elmwood Cemetery, Enfield, Halifax County, North Carolina.General Notes
