His paternal grandparents were Frederick I Hohenstauffen [Duke Swabia] and Hildegarde von Bar-Mousson; his maternal grandparents were Heinrich IV Emperor of The Holy Roman Empire and Bertha Countess Of Maurienne. He had a brother and four sisters, named Konrad III King of, Richilde of, Gertrud Princess of, Sophia zu and Luitgard of. He had seven half-brothers and eight half-sisters, named Adalbert, Prince of, Leopold IV Markgraf of, Otto, Prince Of, Otto Abbaye of Mormond the Historian, Bishop of, Heinrich II, Duke of, Ernst, Prince Of, Konrad, Prince of, Agnes de Babenberg von, Agnes (Sophia), Jutta von, Jhutte Of, Elisabeth, Princess Of, Brechta von, Berthe and Gertrude of.
