Ermentrude was born about 0963 in Reimes,Macon,France.  Ermentrude's father was Renaud De Roucy Count of Reims and her mother was Alberade de Lorraine.  Her paternal grandparents were Herbert II Count of Vermandois and Hildebrante (Liegaude) of Neustria; her maternal grandparents were Gilbert Duke of Lorraine and Gerberga of Saxony Abbess of Notre Dame. She had four brothers and two sisters, named Gilbert (Giselbert) de, Giselbert Count Of, Hugh I Lord Of, Lietaud or Letgarde, Gerberge De and Ermentrude (Irmtrude) Countess Of.  She was the second youngest of the seven children. She had three half-brothers and a half-sister, named Joceran of Semur, Count of, Renaud, Rainer II Count of and Simphoriane D'.  She died in Bourgogne,France.
