Samuel Green was born on December 18th, 1878 in Coosa Co., AL.1 Samuel Green's father was Joseph Alexander Murphy and his mother was Tullelah Belle Adams. His paternal grandparents were Mark Emanuel Murphy and Martha Ann Logan. He had a brother and two sisters, named John Alexander, Martha Ann and Tullelah Belle. He was the oldest of the four children. He had a half-brother and three half-sisters, named Thomas Leroy, Mary D., Arsula and Clara Beatrice. He died at the age of 77 on March 10th, 1956 in Sylacauga, Talladega Co., AL. Samuel Green Murphy, age 77, passed away at his residence April 10.
Funeral was conducted at the Mt. Vernon Baptist Church April 11, at 3:00
PM with interment in the Sylacauga Cemetery. Survivors include: wife,
Mrs. Tesshie Murphy of Sylacauga, 4 daughters Mrs. Everee Gilmore and
Estelle Roberson both of Sylacauga, Mrs. Lula Anthony of Hollins, and
Mrs. Pearl Wright of Talladega, 7 sons, Clarence, Calvin, and Charles all
of Sylacauga, Caldwell of Peaco, Alabama, Kermit of Columbiana, Urell of
Calera, and Earl of Dayton, Ohio, also 45 grandchildren, 26 great
grandchildren, 2 brothers and 3 sisters.
