Mark Emanuel was born about 1830 in SC.1 Mark Emanuel's father was Joseph Drury Murphy and his mother was Edy Jackson. He had two brothers and seven sisters, named William J., Zeke Jesse, Susan W., Julia, Amanda, Harriett F., Elizabeth, Jane and Polly. He had a half-sister named Jane.
