Kate was born on June 19th, 1893 in Coosa Co., AL.1 Kate's father was John Kirkham McEwen and her mother was Catherine Dandridge Walker. Her paternal grandparents were George Washington McEwen and Mary Catherine Sears. She had three brothers and two sisters, named John Walker, George, Charles Wesley, Sr., Archie D. and Mollie Cleveland. She was the second youngest of the six children. She died at the age of 72 on March 31st, 1966 in Sylacauga, Talladega Co., AL.1 General Notes
