Archie D. McEwen 
Archie D. was born on December 17th, 1878 in Coosa Co., AL.1 Archie D.'s father was John Kirkham McEwen and her mother was Catherine Dandridge Walker. Her paternal grandparents were George Washington McEwen and Mary Catherine Sears. She had three brothers and two sisters, named John Walker, George, Charles Wesley, Sr., Mollie Cleveland and Kate. She was the oldest of the six children. She died at the age of 31 on April 13th, 1910 in Coosa Co., AL. Death Cast Sadness Over Community
Mrs. Archie D., wife of Geo. B. McDonald and daughter of Mr. and Mrs.
Jno. K. McEwen, died here in the evening of 13th, inst., and was interred
in the cemetery at Sears Chapel on the day following. Rev. W. W.
Rutland, assisted by Revs. C. H. German, and J. F. Fielding, conducted
the funeral rites. Mrs. McDonald's entire life of 31 years was spent here
in Rockford and with each passing year her high qualities of mind and
heart became more apparent. During her entire life, from early childhood
to death, she occupied a high place in the esteem and affections of the
people of Rockford and community, and her death has cast a sadness over
our community. She was a member of the M. E. Church South and her life of
purity and innocences was consistent with the teaching of the Master.
She leaves a young husband, a father and mother, two brothers and two
sisters upon whom her loss fall most heavily, and many other relatives
and friends who with sadness remember that we will see her kind pleasant
face no more in this life."(1)

He can dwell in Paradise
To the father and mother
Who so keenly feel her loss
Oh! may they sometimes understand
Help them to bear the cross
She has only gone to the fairer shore,
That's built in the skies above
To await with joy and gladness
The coming of the loved
So as time rolls on and the years go by
One by one do we pass away
May we all be gathered around the throne
In the land that is fairer than day
