Mary Elmore was born on August 24th, 1848 in Lowndesboro, Lowndes Co., AL.1 Mary Elmore's father was Hamlin Freeman Lewis and her mother was Mary Martin Elmore. Her paternal grandparents were Francis Lewis and Mary Dixon Hall; her maternal grandparents were John Archer Elmore and Nancy Ann Martin. She had a brother and three sisters, named William Edward, Lucy Hamlin, Annie Rebecca and Sarah Fitzpatrick. She had a half-brother and a half-sister, named Vernon Dalkeith and Lilea. She died at the age of 77 on December 18th, 1925 in Huntsville, Walker Co., TX. She was buried in Oakwood Cemetery, Huntsville, Walker Co., TX.1 1 General Notes
