Frances Maxey Lewis 
Frances Maxey was born on November 29th, 1826 in Lowndesboro, Lowndes Co., AL.1 Frances Maxey's father was Dixon Hall Lewis and his mother was Susan Elizabeth Elmore. His paternal grandparents were Francis Lewis and Mary Dixon Hall; his maternal grandparents were John Archer Elmore and Nancy Ann Martin. He had three brothers and three sisters, named John Archer, Dixon Hall II, William Henry, Laura Ann, Mary Susan and Sally Terry Fitzpatrick. He was the second oldest of the seven children. He died at the age of 76 on December 2nd, 1902 in Waverly, Walker Co., TX. He was buried in Old Waverly Cemetery, Walker Co., TX.1 1 General Notes

"In 1832, Lowndesbora Academy commenced it first session under the
instruction of H. H. Worthington. An old letter says: 'Maxey Lewis,
eldest son of Dixon H. Lewis, was one of the youngest pupils, and Joseph
A. White one of the oldest." (1)
