Joseph Richard Hinson 
Joseph Richard was born on January 9th, 1874 in Troy, Pike Co., AL.1 Joseph Richard's father was Mastin Asbury Hinson and his mother was Lucinda S. Rushing. His paternal grandparents were William Hinson and Martha Ann Pugh; his maternal grandparents were William Cain Rushing and Mary Ann Rushing. He had four brothers and three sisters, named William Mastin, Thomas Martin, John Elbert, Jesse Cleveland, Carrie Lee Ola, Fannie Lou and Pollie. He was the fourth oldest of the eight children. He was a member of Beulah Primitive Baptist Church in Pike County, Troy,
Alabama. When he was a member, the church was located on South Three
Notch Street. It was organized May 15, 1831 and is Troy's oldest
church.(1)
