"Goodwater Woman Celebrates Birthday
GOODWATER, Ala., April 10.-- (Special) -- The children, relatives, and
friends of Mrs. Sarah V. Dobson, assembled at her home near Hanover,
Sunday and observed her 69th birthday. A bountiful dinner was spread and
enjoyed by all, and in the afternoon short talks were made by the Rev. W.
M. Bryant, Prof. C. S. Burton, John A. Darden read a paper, giving a
graphic account of Mrs. Dobson's useful life and of the family from
colonial days down to the present time.
Mrs. Dobson's husband died ten years ago. They have eight children,
seven of them, with their families were present. In addition to members
of the family, the following were present: Mr. and Mrs. J. H. Darde[n],
brother of Mrs. Dobson; Mrs. Max Darden, of Hanover; Mr. and Mrs. Lawson
Bryant, Mr. and Mrs. C. S. Burton, Mr. and Mrs. John A. Darden and Miss
Martha Darden, of Goodwater; Rev. W. M. Bryant and children, Mrs. Orthy
Ann Berry, 81, Mr. and Mrs. Tom Berry, Mr. and Mrs. W. A. Dobson and
family, Sylacauga; Mr. and Mrs. J. R. Goodgame, Weogufka; Mrs. Julia
Slaughter and children, of Alexander City; Mrs. Addie George, Sylacauga;
Frank Dobson, John McEwen, of Hanover, and others."

Dobson was born Sarah Virginia Darden, daughter of Uriah Addison Darden
and Mary Logan. She was the wife of James Thomas Dobson, son of Rainer
B. Dobson and Harriet Ann Carlisle.
