Simon Amherst was born on August 29th, 1840 in TN.1 Simon Amherst's father was John Hardy Cobb and his mother was Harriet W. Castellaw. His paternal grandparents were John Cobb and Sarah Capehart; his maternal grandparents were John Dawson Castellaw and Zilpha Spruill. He had six brothers and four sisters, named Samuel Alexander, Leonard Decatur, John Charles Warren, William Thomas, Monroe Clinton, Robert Davis, Sarah Frances, Zilphia, Mourning Adeline and Harriet Ann Justina. He was the third youngest of the eleven children. He died at the age of 86 on March 7th, 1927 in ?.1 -
