John Alfred was born on October 29th, 1877 in Donnelson, Lee Co, Iowa. John Alfred's father was August Carl Jacob and his mother was Elisabeth Hohl. His paternal grandparents were William Jacob and Katherine; his maternal grandparents were John Nicholas Hohl and Anna Marie Frueh. He had eight brothers and four sisters, named Carl August Jr, Christian Theodore, Frederick Louis, George William, Henry Albert, Herman Hugo, Oscar Benjamin, Peter Ernest, Amelia Ruth, Catherine Anna, Freda Elizabeth and Martha Barbara. He died at the age of 60 on December 30th, 1937 in Ottawa, Franklin Co, Kansas. He was buried on January 2nd, 1938 in Highland Cemetery.-
