Sir William Eure 
Sir William was born in 1396 in Witton Castle, Weardale, Durham, England. Sir William's father was Ralph de Eure , Sheriff of Northumberland, Sir and his mother was Katherine de Aton. His paternal grandparents were John de Eure , of Kirkley, Sir and Isabel de Clifford; his maternal grandparents were William 1st Baron de Aton , of Malton, Sir and Isabel de Percy. He was an only child. He died at the age of 70 in 1466 in Malton Abbey, Yorkshire, England.General Notes

William Eure, born about 1396, knighted after 25 Jan. 1410/11, when he had license to marry Maud, daughter of Henry, third lord fitzHugh, in the train of which lord he fought at Agincourt in 1415. Eure died before 12 Feb. 1466/7, when his widow made her will; she died in 1467 and was buried next to his body at Malton Abbey, Yorkshire. Her parents are named in The Register [NEGHR], vol. 111, p. 198, generation II. Sir William and Maud had, among others, Henry Eure, who married Katharine (daughter of Sir Robert Danby of Thorpe Perrow, Yorkshire, and Thomas Eure, 5th son and tenth or eleventh child, who married Margaret, widow of Henry Slavin, daughter of Thomas Danby, alderman and merchant of York by his wife, Matilda, sister of William and Alexander Metcalf, and daughter of Thomas Danby of Thorpe Perrow, Yorkshire, by his wife Mary, daughter of Sir Robert Tanfield.
