Stephen V. was born on October 14th, 1830 in Canandaigia, Ontario Co, NY. Stephen V.'s father was Jacob Riley Pepper and his mother was Susan Taylor. He had four brothers and seven sisters, named John, Philetus, Jacob Riley, Elnathan, Betsy, Emaline, Clarissa, Lovina, Aurillia, Susan and Mary Lucinda. He was the fourth oldest of the twelve children. He died at the age of 59 on March 5th, 1890 in Paw Paw, Van Buren Co, MI.
