John A. Moody

John A. was born on May 10th, 1832 in Sullivan County, Tennessee.¹ John A.'s father was William Hunt Moody and his mother was Mary Edna Childress. His paternal grandparents were George Moody and Hannah Pope; his maternal grandfather was William Burton Childress. He had three brothers and four sisters, named Adam L., James C., William Lane, Martha Edna, Frances E., Mary Jane and Hannah Ellen. He was the third oldest of the eight children. He had seven half-brothers named Dewitt Clinton, George E., Thomas S., Joseph W., Wesley, Benjamin D. and Bluford T.. He died at the age of 85 on February 21st, 1918.¹
