George E. Moody

George E. was born in August 1855 in Sullivan County, Tennessee.¹ George E.'s father was William Hunt Moody and his mother was Byer Whaley. His paternal grandparents were George Moody and Hannah Pope; his maternal grandparents were Lester Whaley and Sarah. He had six brothers named Dewitt Clinton, Thomas S., Joseph W., Wesley, Benjamin D. and Bluford T.. He was the second oldest of the seven children. He had four half-brothers and four half-sisters, named Adam L., James C., John A., William Lane, Martha Edna, Frances E., Mary Jane and Hannah Ellen.
