Arthur Cleveland was born on March 7th, 1885 in Shelby County, Illinois at the Old Combest Farm.1   Arthur Cleveland's father was Commadore Perry Combest and his mother was Abigail Frances Wood.  His paternal grandparents were James Combest and Nancy Bowmer; his maternal grandparents were Ransom Wood and Susan Taylor. He had seven brothers and three sisters, named James Allen, Robert Eugene, William Ransom, Willard Perry, Albert Galatan, Charles Riley, George Washington, Gilla Frances, Lillian May and Anna Gertrude.  He was the second youngest of the eleven children. He had three half-sisters named Ida May, Clara Bell and Ceilia Anna.  He died  due to believed to be cancer (an autopsy wasn't perfomed at the age of 34 on September 2nd, 1919 in Shelbyville, Shelby County, Illinois.1
