William I the Lion was born in 1143 in Scotland.1   William I the Lion's father was Henry of Huntington Prince of Scotland and his mother was Adelaide (Ada) de Warenne.  His paternal grandparents were David I King of Scots and Matilda (Maud) of Northumbria; his maternal grandparents were William de Warenne II Earl of Warren & Surrey and Isabel de Vermandois. He had a brother and a sister, named David of Huntington and Margaret de Huntington.  He was the oldest of the three children.  He died at the age of 71 on December 4th, 1214 in Stirling, Scotland.  He was buried in Earl of Huntington..1 1
