John Alexander Crawford 
John Alexander was born on March 17th, 1829 in Tennessee.1 John Alexander's father was James A Crawford and his mother was Rachel Sawyers Crawford. His paternal grandparents were Alexander Crawford and Rachel Lesley; his maternal grandparents were John Crawford and Margaret Buchanan. He had six brothers and three sisters, named Archabold, William Hay, James Leslie, Pleasant Alfred, Isaac C, Thomas Edward, Margaret M, Rachel Emma and Nancy J. He was the oldest of the ten children. He died at the age of 86 on March 16th, 1916 in Hachheim, Dewitt County, Texas.1 General Notes
