Martha Steele Buchanan 
Martha Steele was born on October 12th, 1789 in Rockbridge, Virginia.1 Martha Steele's father was David Buchanan and her mother was Margaret Steele. Her paternal grandparents were Andrew Buchanan and Johanna Hays. She had three brothers and three sisters, named Andrew, Samuel Steele, David, Mary, Joanna and Isabella. She was the oldest of the seven children. She died at the age of 89 in 1878 in Davidson County, Tennessee.1 General Notes
