Sarah "Sallie" was born in March 1863 in Trimble County, Kentucky. Sarah "Sallie"'s father was Joseph Forest Butler and her mother was Nancy Jane Pendleton. Her paternal grandparents were John Ferguson Butler and Frances Jane Farley; her maternal grandparents were Robert H. Pendleton and Sarah "Sallie" Peak. She had five brothers and two sisters, named Benjamin Franklin , Charles, John Robert, Joseph Foster, Mark Collis, Mary Elizabeth and Ely. She was the second oldest of the eight children.General Notes
