Ely Butler 
Ely was born on February 7th, 1877 in Trimble County, Kentucky. Ely's father was Joseph Forest Butler and her mother was Nancy Jane Pendleton. Her paternal grandparents were John Ferguson Butler and Frances Jane Farley; her maternal grandparents were Robert H. Pendleton and Sarah "Sallie" Peak. She had five brothers and two sisters, named Benjamin Franklin , Charles, John Robert, Joseph Foster, Mark Collis, Sarah "Sallie" and Mary Elizabeth. She was the second youngest of the eight children.General Notes

"In March of 1875 Joseph and Nancy Jane purchased a farm in the Liberty neighborhood of Trimble County and moved their family there. Their third daughter, Ely, named for the well-liked Dr. Ely, was born 7 February 1877."
