Thomas was born in 1374 in Arundel, Sussex, England.1 Thomas' father was Thomas de Holand II Earl of Kent and his mother was Alice FitzAlan. His paternal grandparents were Thomas de Holand Earl of Kent and Joan the Fair Maid Plantagenet; his maternal grandparents were Richard FitzAlan II Earl of Arundel and Alianor Plantagenet. He had a brother and four sisters, named Edmund de Holand, Joan, Margaret, Alianor and Elizabeth. He was the second oldest of the six children. He had a half-sister named Jane.-
