Mary Ellen (Mae) was born on January 12th, 1894 in Newberry County, SC.1 Mary Ellen (Mae)'s father was Henry Levi Kempson and her mother was Minnie Shealy. Her maternal grandparents were Luther Shealy and Martha Bowers. She had three brothers and two sisters, named Arthur Alvin, James Luther, Leland Austin, Myrtle Lee and Katie Lou Alva. She was the second oldest of the six children. She died at the age of 91 on April 29th, 1985 in Saluda County, South Carolina. She was buried in Trinity Lutheran Cemetery, Saluda, South Carolina.1 1 -
