Robert Coleman was born on August 3rd, 1860. Robert Coleman's father was Joseph Poe Nichols and his mother was Pantheah Royall Overbey. His maternal grandparents were Henderson Overbey and Elizabeth Royster. He had three brothers and seven sisters, named Thomas Franklin, Henderson Arthur, Joseph Lee, Elizabeth Elenor, Mary Matilda, Martha Ellis, Nellie, William Walter, Carrie and Katie. He was the oldest of the eleven children.-
